Points on how to Read and Interpret the Word of God

When we come to the Word of God it is important to not put our own interpretations on to the Word but let the Word speak into us. Here are some points on how to do this - remembering that the Word of God is living and active and needs to be read as 'alive'.

Holiness Understood - Identity & Battleplan (Part 1)

This is part 1 of an updated 2 part summary of a 3 part teaching I recently concluded on Holiness. And my reason for this being, the indispensable need every disciple of Christ has to fully grasp the meaning and application of Holiness. And to try do so in as short and powerful manner as possible - hence the summary. Of course, for a deeper understanding of the concepts and scriptures included in this message, the original 3 messages still have great reference and value.

The Holiness Battleplan

Because we need to understand that my old man has not simply been replaced, gone for good or annihilated... No such luck! Instead that old man remains a part of my life lived in this fleshy (fallen) body and soul. It's like the enemy within that we can never get out! And so... Very simply but soberingly, to battle we must go... For despite the fact that Jesus has won the war, if we don't apply this knowledge and understanding to our lives, we can still lose our battle for Holiness... And so this message is dedicated to our Holiness Battle Plan! That is a strategy aligned to living according to our new design and nature.

The Excellency of this Way of Holiness

That you may seek Holiness and Righteousness only by believing in Christ and walking in Him by faith according to the former directions, take encouragement getting the great advantages of this way and the excellent properties thereof.

Holiness through Faith

Therefore, that you may the better be acquainted with a mystery of so high concernment, I shall show in the first place, that the Holy Scriptures do direct you to this manner of practice, as only effectual for the performance of holy duties; and then I shall lay before you some necessary instructions, that you may understand how to walk aright in it; and continue and go forward therein till you are made perfect in Christ!
